The Zpacks Altaplex is the bigger sibling of the Plex Solo. If you’re a touch taller, the Altaplex is the answer. With an interior peak height of 145 cm (57″) you can easily sit up inside, with more room for your arms and your kit. You notice it in the length too: the Altaplex is 228 cm long inside and about 102 cm wide. A nice roomy vestibule gives you space for your shoes and other things you’d rather keep out of the tent. This is a single-wall tent, so there’s always a chance of condensation, just be aware of that.
Same one-pole, one-door philosophy as the Plex Solo, but the Altaplex’s steeper walls help shed condensation better.
The Olive Drab Lite version uses lighter, thinner material and weighs a ridiculous 374 grams. The Spruce Green Standard version is thicker, sturdier and less transparent, and weighs around 467 grams. This ultralight one-person tent comes with a medium Dyneema stuff sack, a piece of DCF repair tape and 2 spare zipper sliders.
The tent pitches with a hiking pole or a separate tent pole, which is not included. Stakes and guy lines aren’t included either, since most gram counters have their own preferences there. A minimal setup needs 6 stakes, and up to 10 with extra guy lines.
