Looking for an incredible, but ultralight and also extremely roomy 2 person tent because although you really like your camping partner, a little room never hurt anyone, than the Durston X-mid 2+ pro is a super spacious, single wall tent that will give you both plenty of space. You have probably read all about it and the Durston website has a ton of information on this tent. The x-mid has been our absolute personal favourite tent since the first “drop” edition. We have every version of Dan’s tents in our own collection and are thrilled to be able to offer them in our shop, we have imported them, payed all the taxes and they are in stock in the Netherlands (Europe).
The X-Mid Pro 2 plus is the ideal tent for the ultralight backpacker who wants a very spacious tent and room enough to comfortably fit two people with wide pads and all. The Durston XMid Pro 2+ is an incredibly smart designed ultralight tent. It combines a maximally weight efficient and stormworthy X-Mid geometry with Dyneema® composite fabrics (DCF) and a singlewall design to create a tent that is both incredibly light and incredibly capable. The 2024 version weighs as little as 610 g (with the silnylon floor) while also bringing unprecedented stormworthyness, simplicity, spaciousness, and build quality to the super ultralight tent niche.
It is an incredible clever design and a really nice tent to be in. The vestibules are convenient for storage of your pack and dirty shoes. The height is nice, finish is absolute stellar. The tent is pitched with 2 trekking or tent poles (not included).
Loads of space in a really small package
Weighing just 610 grams, this tent breaks the norm of UL tent options by offering unparalleled space, durability, and weather protection.
The X-Mid Pro 2+ takes the X-Mid geometry (which naturally boosts interior volume) into a larger form factor to create an oversized 2P tent that is palatial for two people and optimized for sleeping two people in the same direction (head to head).
Compared to the regular X-Mid Pro 2, the floor has been widened from 46″ to 52″ (1.32m) to accommodate all wide (25″ / 64 cm) pads. Any other tent near this weight can only accommodate wide tapered pads and not wide rectangular ones like will fit here. The already excellent headroom has also been increased with a taller 49″ (1.24 m) peak height. This adds headroom and also steepens the end walls to increase the useable length for hikers up to 6’6″. We also reduced the rotation of the diagonal ridgeline to create more even headroom on both sides to optimize the tent for two people sleeping in the same direction. Compared to competing A-frame style tents, both sides of the X-Mid Pro 2+ have substantially more head clearance.
What hasn’t changed are the dual generous vestibules, which are large enough to fit the biggest packs and conveniently place the main area beside the door instead of blocking it.
