Vargo Hexagon wood stove

On the road and not dependent on fuel you bring with you, then the Vargo hexagon wood stove / wood burner is a wonderful solution. The Hexagon wood stove is available in a solid stainless steel (SS) and a super light titanium version. This wood stove has a unique design that allows you to fold it flat and transform it into a very functional wood stove in no time. The design creates a kind of tapered chimney that ensures that your fire continues to burn properly. Adding wood is easy through the hinged lid so that even if you have a pan on the fire, you can still add wood. The Vargo Hexagon can also be used in combination with, for example, a ultra-light spirit burner. The housing then functions as a wind screen and pot stand. The wood burner is supplied in a sturdy nylon storage cover so that you can take it safely with you and your other belongings do not get dirty.

Cooking on wood

If you want to use the hexagon, you need dry firewood, usually a hand full of twigs, twigs and a piece of birch bark is sufficient to properly light the burner. You can then place some larger pieces of wood in it (logs split with a pocket knife). Do not use pieces that are too large, otherwise the hexagon will not burn well. Even if it has rained, you can usually find dry branches by looking for dead branches that are still on the tree (not on the ground), for example the dead branches at the bottom of pine trees (which are provided with resin and therefore burn nicely and burst, be careful with your flammable clothing).
