Nothing’s more tedious than having to blow up your sleeping mat by lung power after a long day and pitching the tent. Sure, you can use a pump sack, but Nitecore’s AP05C makes it a breeze. You can run the AP05C off a single-use battery, but we supply it complete with a USB-C rechargeable RCR123A battery (the NL169R RCR123A, 950 mAh, think of it as a chunky AA).
This electric pump both blows and sucks, so a quick mat inflation (around 40 seconds for an X-Lite) is easy, and you can also draw out that last bit of air to vacuum it down. It doesn’t matter what type or brand of mat you have, with the 4 included nozzles there’s always one that fits. It all packs into the supplied storage pouch (which also works perfectly as a diffuser for your headlamp).
The pump has a fancy carbon fibre shell which keeps it very light. The pump alone is 23 grams and the battery about 20 grams, so the whole thing is under 50 grams. That’s often lighter than your pump sack. If you want lighter still, the Alpenglow at 8 grams is the lightest pump there is. This pump pushes 200 litres per minute at 2.87 kPa without resistance, just saying. On a full charge you can inflate your Thermarest mat around 30 times.
