We already knew the 1 litre version, but now it has a little sibling, the Mazama Mini M!GO water bottle in 700 ml. The Mazama was named one of the best-tested bottles on bikepacking.com, so of course we had to have it.
The Mazama Mini M!GO water bottle 700 ml is the result of a nice collaboration between Mazama and Miranda Webster (known from the YouTube channel Miranda Goes Outside!!). Miranda wasn’t happy with the bottles she’d been using and came up with this design. What really makes this bottle unique is the double-thread system. It gives you not one but two openings: a standard small cap to drink from, and a large “wide mouth” opening underneath. That extra opening is genuinely handy. It makes cleaning a breeze and is ideal for quickly “scooping” water from a stream.
The nice thing about this bottle is that you can use it with most water filters. Because it’s made from LDPE it’s also nicely flexible, so you can squeeze it to push water through the filter. You can use the Mazama with the following filters: Katadyn BeFree, Sawyer Squeeze, Platypus. The Mini also has an “ice catch”, a little strainer so ice cubes don’t clog things up. Nice idea, but completely useless on the trail, so we just leave it at home.

Note: you can put hot water in your Mazama bottle, but using it as a hot-water bottle in your sleeping bag is not recommended. As the material softens the cap could start to leak, and you don’t want a wet sleeping bag. The bottle could go in the dishwasher too, but to be safe we just hand-wash it, which is easy through the large opening. Rinse and wash it well before first use.
