Renewed for 2023: The Thermarest NeoAir XLite NXT It was already one of our favorite sleeping mats and has now become even better. The Xlite NXT is an extremely comfortable sleeping mat that is comfortable, lightweight (460 grams) and can be stored very small (as big as a 1 liter Nalgene bottle). All in all, ideal for bikepackers, backpackers and other outdoor enthusiasts who don’t want to carry too much with them but still want to sleep well. And the NXT version improves it even further: the mat is thicker (7.6 cm), warmer (r-value 4.5) and, above all, a lot quieter. This air mattress is one of the bikepacking shop’s favorite sleeping mats.

Thermarest NeoAir XLite NXT: the ideal 3-season sleeping pad?

The Thermarest NeoAir XLite is a sleeping mat that is suitable for 3-season use with an R-value of no less than 4.5! And due to this high insulation value, it is even suitable for light winter camping trips. The reflective thermal capture layer and the separate air cells provide a high degree of insulation and keep you warm on those colder days. The mattress is 7.6cm thick and provides good stability to your body and ensures that you can let the mat collapse just right without touching the ground. You can easily fill the mattress with the supplied pump bag (which can also be used to store some things). to store), place this on the “winglock” valve and easily fill the mattress. But we understand from Thermarest that you can also just inflate the mat with your mouth, you don’t have to fear mold formation.

Small tip: to keep your pillow on the mat, we use a piece of elastic to attach the pillow to the top of the mat. (our favorite pillow is the SeaToSummit Aeros down , which we attach to the elastic on the inflation valve)
